Contracted care (gecontracteerde zorg)
Care from a provider that has a contract with your insurer for your policy.
Insurers sign contracts with hospitals, pharmacies, physiotherapists and other care providers about price and quality. A contract applies per insurer and sometimes per policy: a hospital may be contracted for one policy but not for a budget policy from the same insurer. With an in-kind or budget policy, contracted care is fully covered; without a contract you often get less. Some contracts have a revenue cap (omzetplafond), so later in the year a provider may refer patients elsewhere or put them on a waiting list. Contracts can change during the year.
