Group insurance (collectieve verzekering)
Health insurance arranged through your employer, municipality or an association, with a discount or special terms.
Employers, municipalities, trade unions, sports associations and patient organisations make agreements with insurers, known as a collectiviteit (group scheme). Since 2023 no group discount is allowed on basic insurance; a discount is only possible on supplementary insurance. A group scheme may offer other benefits, such as a package with extra cover. Municipalities often offer group insurance for residents with a low income. Always compare the total cost: a group scheme is not automatically the cheapest option.
