Voluntary deductible (vrijwillig eigen risico)

An extra deductible on top of the mandatory one that you can choose in exchange for a lower premium.

You can choose an extra 100, 200, 300, 400 or 500 euros of deductible. Your premium goes down, but if you use care that counts towards the deductible, you pay more yourself. Whether that pays off depends on your expected care costs, and the premium discount differs per insurer and policy. A voluntary deductible is only possible from age 18. You choose it per calendar year and usually cannot lower it during the year. My comparison tool calculates the outcome for you; the choice remains yours.
