Switching service (overstapservice)
When you take out basic insurance with a new insurer, the new insurer cancels your old policy for you.
You can switch to a different basic insurance policy every year as of 1 January. If you take out a new policy by 31 December, your new insurer cancels your old basic insurance for you through the switching service. You do not have to do anything yourself. If you cancel yourself before 1 January, you have until 1 February to take out new basic insurance, which then starts on 1 January. Check with your new insurer whether your supplementary insurance is cancelled too.
